This weekend has been a blur. Friday afternoon Julie and I went into Hamilton and she got her appliances in. One is a permanent metal palette expander that she has to wear for 6 months. I have to turn a key in it twice a day for two weeks to slowly spread the roof of her mouth and expand her upper jaw. The other one is a retainer for teh bottom jaw to keep those teeth in place while the others shift. It will help the other one work quicker and help with her cross bite. I felt so bad for her though that night. She couldn’t talk properly, her tongue didn’t know where to go and she was drooling. She’s been practicing talking with it all weekend and is much better but the kids at school will still be brutal. I can feel it in my bones. Girls are way worse than boys for teasing. Girls are evil….boys just tease. I have a note to her teacher explaining about the appliances and WHY she needs them in the hope that she will understand why Julie is quieter and not so quick to put her hand up and maybe explain to the class why this is necessary for 6 months. Julie understands…the rest of the class doesn’t.Eating food is a real challenge right now. This kid is a carnivore and meat is too difficult to chew. Noodles and mashed potatos are going down good as well as oatmeal but the kid is jonesing for meat…maybe I will try putting it in the food processor tonight and try that..I can just hear the belly aching now about giving her “baby food”. Ugh.

Anyway Sunday was a fun day for Julie and I. Cindyrelly started us off by sending me this gem from You Tube. Mwah!!

We also danced to Blitzkreig Bop by the Ramones although to her she will associate that song with Jimmy Neutron…whatever works! We finally ended our trip down memory lane with XTC….and this one which is one of my favorites… What I Like About You

In the end we had a ton of fun together, tripped down memory lane, danced like fools and laughed until we snorted!! ROFL!!!

Yesterday Julie had a kid over to play, Steve hid in the man-pit getting his NFL fix and cleaning out his workout room…Nikki…that was the area that was buried in speakers, tires, and a host of other crap…LOL..remember? Well he cleaned it!!! Don’t know where he put everything but then again maybe I don’t WANT to know…LOL …as for me I backed up one hard drive and cleaned off 80G of stuff. Did some laundry, some studying, some cleaning..no play time. I have to finish this lesson today and get the assignments and quiz in…no rest for the wenches here…lol

Today is just a quickie….we are getting the tail end of Gustav, I think, or maybe its another one…high winds, thunder and its supposed to rain all day (Steve has a golf tee time this aft..bwahahaha). I usually lose my connection in wind or rain for that matter too so I am just dork dancing through , leaving a gift in my wake…

It is the end of an era here on our road….

I was driving yesterday morning to take Julie to the orthodontist when I noticed that Naked Mower Guy’s house has finally sold. Who is Naked Mower Guy you ask? I copied this blurb from the post last year about him….

I was driving to Hamilton this afternoon to pick up my daughter at her grand-parents when I noticed a “For sale” sign at our neighbors. I never met the guy. The first time I laid eyes on him was when we first moved here 11 years ago. I was on my way somewhere, when I drove past this house and saw what I thought was a naked man mowing the lawn. Got my curiosity going so I had to turn around and double-check it….sure enough, he’s nekked as a jay bird, mowing the lawn. Not wearing a thong either….Not on a tractor….he was walking and naked…we live on a highway…..ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!Anyway, over the years, I have seen Nekked Mowing Guy more times than I can count….you just get so used to it I guess. I’ve seen him in the spring when he’s all pasty and white and in the fall when he looks like old leather…I’ve even seen him get injured. Walking behind his mower, dangling in the breeze and I guess he hit a pebble or something and it ricocheted out of the mower and pinged him in the willy. Dropped him for a second. I had to pull over because I was laughing so hard, I couldn’t see….This summer we noticed his property is better looked after…the gardens are weeded and tidy and the yard and his shrine are cleaned out. Today , the For Sale sign….farewell Nekked Mower Guy…..I’ll have to get my giggles elsewhere I guess…..

A family with 2 little ones bought his house. They have been keeping the property clean and tidy and it’s starting to look very nice. They all wear clothes when they mow…..

Yesterday Steve and I decided to play hooky from our To Do lists from Hell and decided to take advantage of the gorgeous, hot weather out. We spent the afternoon by the pool. We felt guilty for about a second. Why? “Cuz we were relaxing while Julie was in school….it was good to have a date night (date day) with no interruptions…we needed to recharge a little.

Today we are back to the grind. Steve is on night shifts, I am on Lesson 11 and have a ton of stuff to do in the house. We all have trashed it over the last week and it needs to be cleaned…big time. Still haven’t been able to open Photoshop to play in weeks…I need to play…..::insert my whiny voice here:: LOL

Well I’m off to fling some food at Cate and throw some laundry in…have a great day!!

It simply was a gorgeous weekend. The sun shone non-stop, Julie was at her grand-parents fort eh weekend, Steve worked days and I had loads of peace and quiet. I got a ton done but didn’t even look at my homework…bad me. Yesterday we went to Canada’s largest Ribfest in Burlington with some friend’s of ours. We pigged out on ribs, pulled pork sandwiches as big as my daughter’s head, blooming onions with the works and potatoes…never mind the wine!! LOL…we drank lots of that too..hahaha!!! I was too stuffed to even venture a couple hundred feet to the craft tents…LOL!!! After that we went to the Labor Day Classic football game between our local team the Hamilton TiCats vs the Toronto Argosnots. The game was a blast adn close right to the end. Toronto won but it wasn’t an ass kicking like it usually is….final score was 34-31 for TO…..picked up Julie at her grand-parents after the game and listened to her tell us all about the fun she had…we get home, put her and me to bed (ha) . Alarm went off at 6 this morning and she’s now back at school…YIPPEEEEEEE!!!!! I’m heading back to the laptop to batten down the hatches and get this lesson done before it’s due tomorrow…at least there will be no distractions…or very few anyway.. I need to concentrate because this CSS stuff is confusing as all get out… my belly needs a rest too…I’m sure I won’t be able to eat for another 4 days…

…so if you don’t hear from me for a few days it’s because I’m tied to my laptop coding myself to death…

Just a quickie this morning…’cuz I won’t be posting for a few days….

We’re heading off to Burlington this aft with Steve’s best friend Sheila & her hubby to Ribfest and then to the football game…weather has been perfection all weekend and will continue like this for a few days yet…so instead of jabbering you to tears I’m gonna post a freebie and run…

I think Kim B. is feeling better….she’s sending naughty emails again…LOL!!! I woke up to two emails this morning that made me spit out my coffee…which is OK ‘cuz one of those emails had milk for my coffee… Glad you’re back to normal (?) Kim!!!! LOL!!

Steve’s 3 weeks of holidays are officially over. He went back to work this morning…it was sad waitching him  when the alarm went off at 5:20 am…he is so NOT a morning person. He stumbles out of bed at the last possible moment, makes himself a tea and he’s off…he’ll be tired tonight…he’s not on a schedule anymore.

Julie is wound up tight today. We called the school yesterday to find out who her teacher will be for Grade 4 and she started squealing when she found out who it was…apparently she LOVES Mrs. Matthews..LOL!! We’re whirling around again today. We are going into the city to get a birthday gift and also some penny loafers for Julie at school…I dont even know if they MAKE penny loafers anymore but we’ll swing by Payless and get a pair of the flats for Julie to go back to school…I also have to look for shoes for her to wear with her flowergirls dress…that’s coming up in one month. After that we are off to the orthodontist so Julie can get her bands and impressions and then I take her to her grandparents for the weekend. She’s really looking forward to that. We’re normally not social butterflies. We are usually homebodies but this summer has been really crazy.

I got a TON done yesterday but still have a ton more…didn’t even look at the homework yesterday…maybe tomorrow when the house is quiet…maybe. Well I have a fresh coffee so I’m going to have a few slurps and then go thru my email and perv up Diane’s inbox… ROFL!!!! Have a great weekend!!!

Why am I hollerin’? You’ll see why in a sec… LOL!!!!

The last 2 days I have been feeling pretty yucky. Chills, aches, headachy, wrapped in sweaters and sleeping bags to keep warm…today I wake up and I don’t feel too bad…hope that doesn’t mean I am going to be down for the count this weekend with the cold… Yesterday Julie had a friend over for the day, so I hid in my corner of the living room doing homework, with periodic spurts of baking. I made banana bread and a fresh peach pie…house smells so yummy!!! I got one batch of homework done simply to get another lesson less than an hour later….that will just TEACH me not to hand in my assignments when my teacher from the UK is online..ROFL!!! No rest for the wicked..hahaha!!!

For a month now, Julie and I have been going on the knowledge that school starts back on Thursday Sept 4th. This morning, Steve comes home from working night shift and we find out school goes back on September 2nd…EARLIER than we thought!!!!! WOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!! It’s the most wonderful time of the year….. hahahaha!!!! This weekend Julie is going to her grand-parents for the weekend. Steve is working this weekend but we still are going to a golf tournament BBQ at the neighbors on Saturday night and then possibly a house party at our friend’s in Hamilton… Monday we were given free box seats to the see the Hamilton TiCat/Toronto Argosnots Labor Day Classic football game. We are going to Ribfest first in Burlington. Ribs dont do anything for me but I am jones-ing for a pulled pork sammich let me tell ya… I am looking forward to it!!!! Means Julie will have a late night though. We pick her up after the game around 10-ish and then she has to get up at 6:30am for school on Tuesday…she will be a bear…..but she will be the SCHOOL’s bear…hahahaha!!!!

So…..to celebrate my daughter going back to school earlier than we though, I have a freebie!!!! Wooohooo!!!!
